The Waiting Continues…

Never thought I’d be so anxious to fart. Because it’s the weekend, my regular docs are not available. I spoke with the on-call gyno who assures me that this waiting is completely normal.

As long as I don’t experience nausea and vomiting, we’re good. It’s just going to take time. The bowels freeze when they are touched, and mine were touched, scraped, and prodded. She’s hopeful we’ll get some action today or tomorrow.

I have lost some weight since arriving (3lbs) so we are watching that closely. If they do give me extra nutrition, it will be via IV and that won’t be until Monday. There will be no food until I pass gas.

Other than that, I am doing well. My pain is managed and I’m walking around a lot. (That’s the one thing I can do to help move some gas!) I feel stronger every day. I can almost laugh out loud. Getting in and out of bed is easier and easier. So, all in all, I’m definitely on the mend.

I will post another update as soon as I fart. Who knew it would be this exciting to wait for a fart?!

I’m not sure how mobile you are, but here’s an article I found on poses that promote gas release. Herbal tea might help with the bloating. I’ll keep scouring the Internet.

  5. Also, stay seated after going #1, but no straining. Just repeating what I’m finding, and probably stating the obvious. Good luck. Let ‘er rip!
